Camping at Grand Canyon 1-17-03 to 1-19-03
What a great trip! The first night we arrived, we were suprised that there was snow. Which was really cool for about 20 minutes, until the harsh reality that "snow on the ground" = "freezing inside tent", hit home. It was so damn cold (somewhere in the 20s)! On that note, the tempur-pedic people were not kidding when they said the material is temperature sensitive. Those normally super-comfortable pillows turned into bricks of death (literally)at that temperature. Too bad we didn't get a video of it, but when Allen hit it with a maglite, it didn't even make a dent in it. Then, in the midst of all the commotion, the stupid park ranger came by and warned us to shut up or get a ticket. But anyway, on to the actual grand canyon itself, AMAZING. That's the only word I can think of that even begins to describe it. Standing there, seeing it for the first time.... it's just too difficult to describe - you really have to see it with your own eyes because no words could do it justice. The pictures below can only give you a slight idea of how huge/vast/enormous the place is because the camera could only get so much at one time. We went hiking both days, and both trails we went on were very, very cool and offered some amazing views of the canyon. It was pretty freaky most of the time because the trails were very icy, narrow, and had a huge drop on one side that guaranteed death if you fell off.... ahhh gotta love the Great Outdoors!

trail of death!

LCC and blasted car trouble 1-15-03
Although it started out really, really bad, the performance actually turned out very well. The first skit was just flat-out crap. They had this huge asian Gary Coleman bit that was just lame. But after that, the show got really good. As luck would have it, on the way home, I got a flat tire (a first). So I managed to make it off the fwy at about 3 mph and stupid cars giving me crap even though my hazards were on, and into a dark burger king parking lot in a not-so-nice neighborhood. Then I found out that the jack wasn't even in the car - so I had to wait for my brother to bring one.... what a headache.

Hyah! and Richey Lam 1-14-03
First day of Jiu-Jitsu, and I'm already injured (sad, I know). Damn fatty threw me into another guy who just happened to land at the exact same spot right before I got there.... and although I'm not sure how, I bruised my spine somehow. But still, the class is pretty fun, and the techniques are kinda cool as well. After class, we headed over to the Westwood Brewing Company to watch Richey Lam perform. He sounded a lot better here than he did during spring sing, and his others songs were also pretty good. Pretty good night.... but one word of warning though, do NOT eat at that place because it is pretty expensive and tastes horrible.

LA Auto Show 1-12-03
It was so frickin' crowded at the show, and that kinda killed the experience a little bit since there were so many people gathered around the more popular exhibits, but it was fun all the same. Highlight of the day was in the Aston Martin section, where I was busy staring at the cars and lost track of Winnie for the moment - but I "found" her again rather quickly and put my hand on her shoulder and said some dumb ish like "James Bond".... not realizing it was SOMEONE ELSE - who just happened to be short, asian, and had medium-length black hair! Anyway, on a brighter note, I finally got to sit in "my" Z! Other highlights were 30" rims, Maybach, Ferrari Enzo, Aston Martin Vanquish, Mitsubishi Evo, Brabus, and some others I probably forgot.

Mountain Biking 1-11-03
Only 2nd time down the trails for my new bike, and although I've been picking more speed lately, I'm still lagging behind those two psychos. Speaking of which, sneeze really outdid himself by taking to the trails with a GT interceptor (BMX bike, ONE speed). Bad news was I punctured my rear tire somehow and gotta get it replaced.
